Focus

The constitution of the AZSEE set up several objectives which are the main focus of the association. The following are the main focus areas as stipulated by the constitution of the association.

• To organize communities in Zanzibar into small groups at village, Shehia and Ward levels and empower them in socio-economic development activities for raising their income.
• To create a volunteering spirit, solidarity, peace and love among the community so as to address the challenges facing them through implementation of poverty reduction policy.
• To initiate and sustain various socio-economic programmes in partnership with government.
• To develop concrete programmes for youth, women, vulnerable groups, elders and children.
• Develop capacity development programme for community groups through various approaches and methodologies.
• Collaborate with partners and stakeholders in public and Non-State Actors to protect environment and address socio economic problems.
• Collaborate with partners and stakeholders in community development initiatives in all areas of education, health, water, recreation, sports.
• To collaborate with partners and stakeholders to fight against abuses of children, women, disabled and other vulnerable groups.
• To provide tailor made programmes and trainings to community members and business community in the aspects of production, processing, marketing, and bankable and other opportunities for raising income and livelihood

Strategies

• Strengthen institutional capacity to deliver quality services based on the needs of our clients.
• Establish mechanism for networking and infrastructure development.
• Build capacity of AZSEE members to deliver services to a required standard of the community.
• Awareness creation of community and general public on AZSEE objectives and services
• Collaboration with Government, partners and stakeholders.

The basic and priority activities will be:

• To make situation analysis on social and economic identified problems and provide technical advice and supportive services that will address the problems in effective and efficiency manner;
• To formulate community groups from beneficiary communities of both rural and urban areas;
• To identify their requirement according to their priorities and propose activities which they will suggest to do through bottom up approach;
• To identify available opportunities on empowerment for the youth, women and people with special needs and avail them to the community;
• To conduct outreach services for supporting, facilitating and empowering the communities;
• To provide knowledge and skills on socio-economic development;
• To provide appropriate entrepreneurship training programs to groups established in the communities and empower them to the creation of income generating activities.
